教皇フランシスコと学生がオンライン映像で対話する「教皇フランシスコと話そう」を開催しましたSophia Students Video Chat with Pope Francis 2017年12月18日、映像回線を通じて、本学ほか学校法人上智学院が運営する学校の学生・生徒と教皇フランシスコが対話する「教皇フランシスコと話そう」が行われ、約700人が来場しました。当日はインターネット中継も行われ、世界中に配信されました。 教皇フランシスコは、本学の設立母体であるカトリック・イエズス会出身の初の教皇です。神学部のホアン・アイダル教授が、母国アルゼンチンの神学校時代に、当時神学院の院長であった教皇から直接薫陶を受けた縁から、教皇と直接交渉し、この企画の実現に至りました。教皇がこのような形で日本の大学と対話の機会を設けるのは初めてのことです。イエズス会の教育機関である本学ならではの企画として、世界的にも大きな注目を集めました。 教皇との対話に際し、事前に約100の質問が寄せられ、質問者として高校生から大学院生までの留学生を含む8人が選ばれました。緊張した面持ちの質問者に対し、教皇はユーモアを交えながら、一つ一つ丁寧に答え、来場者との交流を楽しまれました。 学生との対話の後、上智聖歌隊のリードで来場者全員による聖歌「あめのみつかいの」と、前日の12月17日に81歳の誕生日を迎えた教皇を祝して、スペイン語による”Happy Birthday”の2曲を唱和して大盛況のうちに終会となりました。On December 18, 2017 over 700 Sophiaites, including stu-dents, faculty members, and staffers, gathered for a special event titled “Let’s Speak to Pope Francis.” Students put questions to the Pope live over a video link that was also broadcast simulta-neously via YouTube.Pope Francis is the first pope to have been a member of the Society of Jesus, the founding organization of Sophia University. The Pope’s positive response to a request from Professor Juan Haidar, S.J., with whom he has personal ties from their time to-gether at Inmaculada Concepción Seminary in Argentina, made such an event possible. It was the first time that a pope has en-gaged in dialogue with a Japanese university in this way, and as an initiative of Sophia University, the event gained great atten-tion globally.From around a hundred questions for the Pope received in advance, eight questions were chosen from attendees, rang-ing from high school to graduate students including one from Myanmar. For the nervous questioners the Pope carefully an-swered each query one by one, enjoying himself and showing a sense of humor as he engaged with his audience.To close the event, all attendees sang the Christmas carol “An-gels We Have Heard on High” and “Happy Birthday” in Spanish to celebrate his 81st birthday which was on December 17.3
