─ 268 ─【Research Paper】 ①Evaluation Criteria for a Research Paper 1 The structure should be designed with a strong awareness of practical usefulness in addition to the academic aspects that are the evaluation criteria for a master’s thesis. 2 It should contain practical content at a level that can be used immediately in the field of international cooperation. 3 The framework for data collection and analysis, as well as the theoretical basis, should be clear, and the research results should be valid, such as setting tasks such as conducting on-site surveys on the field of international cooperation and reporting the results of the survey. 4 The previous studies must be sufficiently examined and scrutinized, and the source citation and quotation must be done properly. 5 The format of the research paper does not necessarily have to follow that of a research paper, and it is possible to create it while utilizing secondary materials as well as primary materials. However, the structure should be accurate, and the logical development should be consistent and coherent. 6 The language expression of the research paper should be appropriate, and the format of the table of contents, notes, appendices (figures, tables, materials, reference lists, etc.) should be in order. ② Evaluation Method for a Research Paper 1 The evaluation committee consists of one chief examiner and two or more sub-examiners. 2 The chief examiner is selected from among the graduate faculty members of the Graduate School of Global Studies who are recognized as having the qualification requirements of the supervisor, and becomes the chairperson of the research paper evaluation committee. 3 The sub-examiners are selected from among the graduate faculty members of the Graduate School of Global Studies. However, when the Graduate School of Global Studies Committee deems it necessary for the research paper evaluation, the committee may invite faculty members from other graduate schools or faculties of this university or from other graduate schools or research institutes as sub-examiners. 4 The evaluation of the research paper is conducted in a meeting (presentation) format with the participation of the author. ・The evaluation meeting is held in January of the completion year. ・The evaluation is either A, B, C, D (pass) or F (fail). ③ Points to Note When Submitting a Research Paper 1 The language used must be either Japanese or English. 2 The length of the research paper is about 40,000 characters in Japanese and about 15,000 words in English. However, depending on the content, it may be about 20,000 to 40,000 characters in Japanese and about 10,000 to 15,000 words in English. In this case, permission from the supervisor is required for the length. 3 The format consists of a cover, table of contents, main body, conclusion, and reference list. The page number should be included on each page below the introduction. On the cover, write “Research Paper for the 20** Academic Year, Paper Title (Subtitle), Graduate School/Major, Master’s Program, Student Number, Name”. When creating a research paper, check the guide and materials for the academic year in question and create it according to the instructions listed. 4 The standard for the research paper is A4 horizontal writing.
