─ 267 ─【Master’s Thesis] ① Evaluation Criteria for Master’s Thesis 1 The problem awareness is clear, the theme setting is appropriate, and the thesis contributes to the advancement of knowledge in international cooperation studies and related fields. 2 The previous studies are sufficiently examined and scrutinized, and the source citation and quotation are done properly. 3 The thesis structure is accurate, and the logical development is consistent and coherent. 4 The language expression of the thesis is appropriate, and the format of the table of contents, notes, appendices (figures, tables, materials, reference lists, etc.) is in order. ② Evaluation Method for Master’s Thesis 1 The thesis evaluation committee consists of one chief examiner and two or more sub-examiners. 2 The chief examiner is selected from among the graduate faculty members of the Graduate School of Global Studies who are recognized as having the qualification requirements of the supervisor, and becomes the chairperson of the thesis evaluation committee. 3 The sub-examiners are selected from among the graduate faculty members of the Graduate School of Global Studies, but when the Graduate School of Global Studies Committee deems it necessary for the thesis evaluation, the committee may invite faculty members from other graduate schools or faculties of this university or from other graduate schools or research institutes as sub-examiners. 4 The evaluation of the master’s thesis is conducted in a meeting (presentation) format with the participation of the author. ・The evaluation meeting is held in January of the completion year. ・The evaluation is either A, B, C, D (pass) or F (fail). ③ Points to Note When Submitting a Master’s Thesis 1 The language used is either Japanese or English. 2 The length of the master’s thesis is about 40,000 characters in Japanese and about 15,000 words in English. 3 The format consists of a cover page, a table of contents, a main body, a conclusion, and a reference list. Put page numbers on each page from the introduction onwards. On the cover page, write “20** Academic Year Degree Thesis, Thesis Title (Subtitle), Graduate School and Major Name, Master’s Program, Student Number, Name”. In addition, when writing a master’s thesis, check the curriculum guide [Guide and Materials Edition] of the relevant academic year and follow the instructions given there. 4 The standard of the master’s thesis is A4 horizontal writing.
