User’s Guide for Sophia Nursery
Sophia University has partnered with the Shogakukan-Shueisha Production Co., Ltd. to establish “Sophia Nursery” to assist you with taking care of your children while pursuing studies and research at Sophia. Our child care service aims to meet students’
individual needs by creating an environment that makes everyday life on campus easier to bring up their children.
Students interested in the child care program will need to apply at the Center for Student Affairs. Students who wish to use the Nursery during their class hours or other on-campus activities related to study and research are eligible persons to receive child care assistance.
Location : Building 11, 1F Yotsuya Campus,
Days of Operation : Open all year round on the booked days
(the nursery will be closed on university-wide power outage days as well as during the year end and the new year holidays.)
Hours of Operation : 8 am – 8 pm
Reservation is necessary;
A minimum of more than 3 hours per day must be booked for a nursery service and can be extended every 15 minutes after the initial 3 hours.
Target Child : Ages 57 days from birth through preschoolers
We accept up to about 5 children for one-block hour.
Eligibility : Undergraduate or Graduate degree students enrolled at Sophia University
9 am ~ 7 pm - Nursery Usage Fees 2,000 yen /hour (Subsidized Fees 800 yen /hour )
8 am~9 am / 7 pm~8 pm - Nursery Usage Fees 2,600 yen /hour (Subsidized Fees 1,400 yen /hour)
Subsidy 1,200 yen /hour（8 am ~8 pm）
Upper limit of subsidy 30 hours/week, basic rate will be charged to time exceeded 30 hours per week
【About Sophia Nursery】
We have toys and picture books at the nursery. Please bring obento and drinks on your own. We provide hot water and microwave for heating. We will have 2 nursery teachers in charge of one child but we will appoint necessary number of nursery teachers depending on the months and age of the child in accordance with the rules and regulations of Shogakukan-Shueisha Production.
Students interested in using the nursery must complete the initial registration at the Center for Student Affairs one month before the date you wish to use the facility. As a rule, child care assistance is only available for use during regular class hours and other on-campus activities related to study and research. Reservation is required to use this child care service. Please make your reservations to Shogakukan-Shueisha Productions by phone 3 days prior to the date of your use of the Nursery. After the initial reservation, you are requested to hand in a monthly calendar outlining your reservation request by the 20th of the previous month.
