* A message of congratulations to all Graduates will be posted on the university website on March 24.
Given the spread of the novel Coronavirus throughout Japan, Sophia University has decided to cancel all graduation ceremonies scheduled in March.
Acknowledging that graduation is a very important milestone for graduates, being a moment of self-reflection and an opportunity to renew one's determination towards new beginnings in April, we have held many discussions on the possibilities of holding graduation ceremony.
As a result of careful consideration, although none of our students and faculty and staff members has been found to have the Coronavirus, we have arrived at this conclusion in order to prioritize the health and safety of the students and their families who would attend the ceremony and to fulfill our social duty of minimizing risk of infection. I thank you for your understanding and support for our difficult decision.
Decisions regarding the Entrance Ceremony for Sophia University Undergraduate Faculties,Graduate Schools and Course of Midwifery are yet to be made. Information will be provided as soon as decisions are finalized.
