“Global Challenges: The Role of Human Security"

Upon United Nations Secretary-General Antonio Guterres first visit to Japan, Sophia University will host Special Lecture, ”Global Challenges: The Role of Human Security”.
Born in Portugal Secretary-General Guterres served as United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) from 2005 to 2015 December, tackled the refugee problems in Syria, Middle East as well as regions in Africa. In a current post he is also propelling his leadership in challenging issues involving multiple nations such as terrorisms, poverties, environmental problems and so on. In this lecture he will discuss about the role of human security.

  • All participants must pass through a security inspection with metal detectors and a bag check.
    -Hazardous substances, flammable substances, oils and liquids (PETs, cans, tumblers, etc.) may not be taken in to the venue. (Participants should expect an inspection similar to an airport security check.)
    -Participants are advised to bring minimum baggage.
  • Participants must be seated at 14:10, 10 minutes before the lecture begins. Please pass through the reception and security check before this time. Delayed entry into the hall will not be permitted for any reason whatsoever. As the venue will open at 13:00, participants are asked to arrive by 13:50.
  • Please make sure to read any additional notes that may be sent to participants prior to the event.
