Professor Yoshiaki Terumichi appointed as Next President of Sophia University

The Sophia School Corporation Board of Trustees convened on November 16, 2016 and resolved to appoint Professor Yoshiaki Terumichi, Professor of the Faculty of Science and Technology, as the 16th President of Sophia University with a term of office from April 1, 2017 to March 31, 2021.

He currently serves as the Executive Director for Global Academic Affairs and Director of Human Resources Center for International Cooperation.

Professor Terumichi earned a bachelor’s degree and a master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from Keio University, Tokyo. In 1994, he received a doctorate in Engineering from Keio University. After teaching at University of Tokyo for four years, he joined Sophia University faculty in 1998 as an assistant professor of Department of Mechanical Engineering and was promoted to full professor in 2004. From 2011 to 2014, he served as the Vice President for Academic Affairs.
