Sophia University, Nanzan University and Sophia Junior College Joint Initiative Adopted in “Re-Inventing Japan Project” 2015 by Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology-Japan

“Japan-Latin America Student Mobility Program: Human Dignity and Harmonization in Migration and Coexistence”, the initiative created in corroboration between Sophia University, Nanzan University and Sophia Junior College was adopted in “Re-Inventing Japan Project” by Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology-Japan on Sep 9, 2015.

Sharing foundation of Catholic philosophy, these three universities have been building close relations with the universities of Latin America countries by the student exchanges, academic exchange as well as joint research activities. Based upon such cooperation, this project aims to build a model for the international educational corroboration and exchange by implementing such programs below:

  • Sophia University and Nanzan University cooperating to promote the student exchange programs between 13 universities in 6 Latin American countries
  • Inventing and implementing the new short term dispatch programs in Latin America
  • Inventing and implementing the new active learning programs for Latin American and Japanese students.
  • Providing the internship, the service learning and the educational fieldtrip programs for the exchange students.
  • Enhancing the exchange students participations in the service learning programs in Japanese Latin American community which Sophia Junior College has been promoting in the neighboring area

About “Re-Inventing Japan Project” 2015 by Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology-Japan

“Re-Inventing Japan Project” is to develop global human resources aiming to be recognized for their international successes and also to enhance globally competitive college education services of Japan by promoting studying abroad opportunities for Japanese students in corroboration with the universities of Asia, America and Europe which accept international students strategically while preserving their higher education quality.

In 2015 as for “Re-Inventing Japan Project” concentrates in funding and supporting the institutions offering quality exchange programs between the universities in Latin American and Turkey as “Inter College Communication Program Support between Japan and Latin American countries” A for targeting the universities targeting in Latin American countries, out of twenty-five applicants eight universities were chosen and as for targeting Turkey, out of nine applicants three were chosen. As for Sophia University following ASEAN International Mobility Program for Students=ASEAN, it is the second time, the initiative to be adopted in Sophia University, Nanzan University and Sophia Junior College Joint Initiative Adopted in “Reinventing Japan Project” 2015 by Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology-Japan
