Admissions Who can Apply

Eligibility for Science and Technology

The Faculty of Science and Technology accepts applications from freshmen and junior-level transfer students.

Freshmen

All applicants must submit the scores of either SAT or ACT or EJU unless they have (or are expected to obtain) IB Diploma (see When and How to Apply for the details of required subjects). There is no required minimum score or GPA to apply.

Applicants who meet one or more of the following criteria may apply for entrance to the Faculty of Science and Technology.

  1. Those who have completed, or are expected to complete, 12 years or more of formal education in Japanese schools accredited by MEXT
  2. Those who have completed, or are expected to complete, 12 years or more of formal education in foreign countries
  3. Those who have completed, or are expected to complete, 12 years or education at foreign schools in Japan recognized by MEXT
  4. Those who hold, or are expected to hold, International Baccalaureate Diploma before entering Sophia University
  5. Those who have been recognized individually by Sophia University as having qualifications equivalent to (1), (2), (3) or (4) and will reach the age of 18 at the time of entrance to Sophia University
Transfer Students (Juniors)

Applicants who meet one or more of the following criteria may apply for entrance to the Faculty of Science and Technology as a transfer student. Those who do not meet either of the following qualifications should apply as a freshman.

  1. Those who have completed, or are expected to complete, two full academic years at a bachelor's degree-conferring institution as degree seeking students.
  2. Those who have completed, or are expected to complete an associate degree in Arts / Science.

  • Even if you are accepted to junior year, you may need more than 2 years to complete your degree at Sophia University.
