Regulations, committees and the rules on harassment

The Corporation promises to make every possible effort to prevent any harassment on its campuses. However, should such incidents occur the Corporation is ready to take prompt and appropriate measures, according to the rules, to resolve the problem and minimize the harm.

The various committees will operate in accordance with the regulations.



If the Code and the procedures as implemented fail to reach the intended goals, they will be reconsidered and, if necessary, revisions can be made in order to deal more appropriately with actual situations.

Harassment Prevention Committee

The Harassment Prevention Committee is the central committee that deals with the entire problem, decision-making, reviewing and abolishing of related regulations, and matters related to the Consultants.

Members:

To maintain a neutral and fair standpoint, there is approximately equal number of female and male members. Advice from specialists outside of the Corporation may be sought whenever necessary.

Faculty members of Sophia University appointed by the Chancellor: 7 persons

Faculty member of Sophia Junior College appointed by the Chancellor: 1 person

Faculty member of Sophia School of Social Welfare appointed by the Chancellor: 1 person

Staff members appointed by the Chancellor: 4 persons

Harassment Complaint Committee

The Prevention Committee shall establish a Harassment Complaint Committee and the members will deal with each incident of harassment, resolving the problem by discussing it between the parties concerned, filing complaints, conducting investigations, and assisting the victim.

A few members of the Prevention Committee selected by the Chairperson of the Prevention Committee

In special cases, the Chairperson may appoint a few faculty and/or staff of the Corporation.

Harassment Investigation Committee

The Chairperson of the Complaint Committee shall convene the Harassment Investigation Committee within a week from the day the complaint is filed to conduct investigations of incidents.

Members:

Three or more faculty or staff (including one member from the Complaint Committee; at least one half of the members shall be of the same gender as the complainant) appointed by the Chairperson of the Complaint Committee.

If necessary, advice from specialists outside of the Corporation will be sought.
