| 講義概要 ／Course description |
This course assumes no prior knowledge about contemporary China, or about Communist social and political organization. It is designed to provide a historical and thematic overview of post-1949 society and politics. It looks at the distinguishing features of China’s state and society, such as central economic planning and one-party rule, that took shape during the first decade of the People’s Republic in the 1950s, then the patterns of politics and conflict that resulted from these features, and finally the transformation of these features in the context of the emerging market since the late 1970s. | |
