| 講義概要 ／Course description |
A brief survey of the history of the Japanese language in terms of phonology, morphology, syntax, and writing systems. Representative examples illustrating historical changes will be discussed. The subsequent changes in those components wll be discussed with illustrative samples. The course first introduces the topic discussing the main features of Modern Japanese and then discusses the similarities and differences with Classical Japanese (Nara and Heian Period Japanese). Subsequent important historical changes will also be discussed. Lectures will be on the handouts. | ||||
