講義概要 ／Course description	This is the lower-intermediate course to further develop four language skills, building upon the basis of the elementary level. The course aims to expand communicative skills by learning wide-range of new vocabulary, grammar and expressions to interact with native speakers of Japanese in culturally appropriate manners in various social situations. The main focus is put on the development of oral communication skills, while reading and writing skills are equally emphasized to provide and obtain more completed information and to express facts, feelings and opinions. The course covers all the lessons of the textbook “An Integrated Approach to Intermediate Japanese.” Japanese cultural and social issues discussed in the course will help student’s understanding of Japanese culture and society. Approximately 250 kanji (cumulative 700) will be introduced for production and/or recognition in kanji and reading classes. This course is offered for ten 90-minute classes a week. Prerequisites:  JPN 150 or 112 or JPN 180 or equivalent by Japanese Placement Test.
