Presentations - how to create and give effective presentations
講義概要
/Course description
The ability to organize and communicate concepts and information is an
essential ability in college life, as well as in future careers. The purpose of this class is to develop your skills in these areas, using computer tools commonly employed to present ideas and facts.

We will study (among other things): how to organize information; how to select and adapt graphics to enhance presentations; the art of presenting words on screen; how to use charts and graphs; and, most importantly, how to integrate your computer presentations with your spoken words.

This is a laboratory class; our time in class will be spent on creating and giving presentations. Some class periods will be devoted to giving presentations, and in others we will focus on a particular aspect of making presentations, as you prepare for your presentation.

There will be an examination at the end of the semester which will test your practical skills, based on what you have learned in the class, but will not involve you actually giving a presentation.

その他/Others(in detail) :You will make three presentations during the term; the first and second will be made by you alone, and the last presentation will be with one or two partners. Each presentation will be critiqued by your classmates and me. There will be an examination at the end of the semester which will test your practical skills, based on what you have learned in the class, but will not involve you actually giving a presentation.

The presentations will be short — 5 to 10 minutes long; the first one will be informative; the second a report on a survey or other use of data; the final one persuasive. You are graded individually, even in a group presentation.

We will be using PowerPoint to create the presentations, but the principles and techniques learned will be applicable to any other software to produce presentations.
