講義概要
／Course description |
The seminar looks into how visual culture and its knowledge transmitted and dispersed among artists in Ming(1368-1643)and Qing(1644-1911)Chinese society through woodblock illustrated publications. In the Ming and Qing periods Chinese prints developed into a new form of art while keeping its original role as a multi-purpose media. The seminar focuses on Ming-Qing prints in order to study how society affected this popular form of art and how the prints themselves affected the artists and in turn the society. |
