| 講義概要 ／Course description |
This course investigates the roles gender has played in Japanese art and visual imagination. An emphasis is placed on the discursive construction of “femininity” in the modern period. How have women participated as artistic creators, cultural consumers, and arbiters of taste in modern Japan? The course explores answers to this and related questions in historical, cultural, social, and theoretical terms. Topics are organized thematically to encourage critical engagement with the present through historical reflection. The course more broadly introduces basic concepts and issues in feminist art history. | ||||
