| 講義概要 ／Course description |
The course focuses on the emergence and development of modern art in Europe and America from approximately 1850 to 1940. The intent is to reevaluate the emergence of “modernism” and “avant-garde” as aesthetic categories in relation to their historical background. While special attention is given to the comparative formal analysis of actual works, the course introduces a wide range of topics directly and indirectly related to modern art including criticism, concepts, institutions, and social background. | |||
