Campus NewsOn June 2, 2016, Caroline Kennedy, United States Ambassador to Japan, visited Sophia University with Dr. Tere-sa A. Sullivan, President of the Univer-sity of Virginia, joining 12 Sophia stu-dents in a roundtable discussion of four topics on the agenda of the Group of Seven Ise-Shima Summit Japan held in May 2016. Professor Ichiro Fujisaki, for-mer Japanese Ambassador to the U.S. and an international strategic advisor to Sophia, served as moderator.The students presented their specif-ic opinions and suggestions on the top-ics of public health, epidemics, global academic exchange, and women’s em-powerment. Ambassador Kennedy and Dr. Sullivan responded with careful con-sideration.Prior to the meeting, Chancellor Toshia-ki Koso, S.J., President Takashi Hayashi-ta, and Professor John Joseph Purhenk-alam, S.J. of Sophia had an opportunity to talk and reminisce with the Ambassa-dor near a photograph of her uncle, the late United States Senator Edward Ken-nedy, taken on the occasion of his visit to Sophia in 1965.Caroline Kennedy Joins Discussions with Students at Sophia University#013
