【学習内容】

Speaking in public is many people’s biggest fear. Worse than spiders! Speaking in public in English must be even more terrifying, but together we will learn how to make the most of our presentation skills. We will look at everything from the basics of body language to the technicalities of PowerPoint. Together we can build our confidence and prepare to speak publicly at conferences and business presentations without fear. Public speaking is a great skill and will give you confidence in speaking English. This course is for people who have already got an intermediate or reasonable understanding of basic grammar and vocabulary, but may not have yet gained full confidence in their speaking ability. In the course we will all prepare, practise and give individual presentations in front of the class which will help us gain confidence in speaking publicly in English.

【学習方法】

In the class you will watch, create and give presentations about a number of topics. These topics could be related to what you do in the real world. We will provide feedback and strategies for creating effective presentations and speaking in public confidently. We will also learn about PowerPoint and how to manage our body language, structure presentations and even how to deal with questions and problems when presenting.

【学習形態】

The teacher will present various strategies, encourage discussion in pairs and groups and provide worksheets. Students will make their own presentations which they will give near the end of the course to the whole class. Students will receive feedback and be presented with a DVD of their own presentations at the end of the course.

Students will learn and practise how to give effective presentations for business and international conferences. Through public speaking, we will gain confidence in our English speaking ability.

【学習内容】

This course will contain a variety of language and useful structures related to the themes of travel and culture. Each week students will be presented with a theme and through the introduction of new language will discuss aspects of their own and other country’s cultures. In addition, there useful, practical travel English will be presented in realistic contexts. The course will make use of authentic material either from paper or online publications.

【学習方法】

In this class I will employ the communicative approach whereby students will emphasise meaningful interaction between students. Students will be encouraged to express themselves openly and at length, with correction and guidance from the teacher.

【学習形態】

Language will be presented and practised first in a controlled, then in freer situations. Students will work in pairs, and groups with correction and guidance from the teacher. The students will be given homework assignments in the form of written work, reading or web-based research.

The students will expand their vocabulary and increase their grammatical range and accuracy while at the same time learning factual information about other cultures. This will enable the students to become more fluent and confident using English to discuss and compare their own and other cultures. They will also acquire a lot of useful functional vocabulary to use while travelling.

【学習内容】

Are you interested in British Culture? In this class we will learn all about the culture that brought forward cutting edge music, such as The Beatles and Radiohead. Students will be given the chance to learn about areas that most interest them, and listen to short lectures and share information in a task-based learning environment. Each week we will learn about one section of the culture of Britain, building up a complete picture by the end of the course.

【学習方法】

The teacher will give a short lecture at the start of class and then students will discuss ideas in groups. Sometimes, students will be expected to do a little bit of deeper research outside the class into areas that interest them, and discuss these as part of the class.

【学習形態】

The class will take the form of a listening lecture and then a communicative or content driven approach. The main focus is listening and discussion.

Students will listen to lectures and take part in discussions about aspects of British Culture. This will help students to gain confidence in their English speaking and listening ability, with a particular focus on British English varieties.
