【学習内容】

This is a “Western” style class for truly MOTIVATED people who wish to NOT ONLY improve their TOEIC scores, but ALSO to better understand and better ‘DO’ English conversation, grammar, listening, vocabulary, and reading. Reading, grammar, and listening practice will come from the textbook. In addition, listening abilities will be honed by song-listening and video-listening exercises; and reading/vocabulary comprehension can be improved via reading English News articles. Please sit at the FRONT; sit beside two other GENKI students; use ‘Western’manners (e.g. cover your mouth when you cough, sneeze, or yawn); make lots of eye contact; show International “open” Body Language; SMILE; talk together a LOT; use PENS, (instead of pencils); develop a sense of HUMOR; guess (quickly) if you don’t know an answer; and please always keep a large namecard on your desk.

The textbook exercises (listening; grammar; reading) may be mixed with song-listening, audio listening and video exercises (to improve listening skills); with conversation (to keep the mood INTERNATIONAL and OPEN-MINDED, and to practice grammar and speaking); with News article-reading (to improve reading, writing, and grammar); and with other items, to keep the class STIMULATING and cross-cultural.

Students are requested to participate 429%; to QUICKLY answer questions and EXPLAIN their answers; to be open-minded about new and different learning styles; to show and use HUMOR; and to understand that ‘Wasei Eigo’ is NOT appropriate English. Pair conversation will assist all of us to ‘ENERGIZE,’ and to USE the English that we learn.
