【学習内容】

Let’s travel around the world via English videos...and also improve our cultural awareness and communication abilities in English. Then, we can meet lots of international people, and speak with them smoothly, and in a friendly, humorous way. Some places we might explore could be Machu Pichu, the Caribbean, Australia, Brasil, Turkey, Palau, Polynesia,and other places. (Please feel free to suggest places you’d like to find out about.) In order to make this course more international and friendly, Please sit at the FRONT of the classroom; sit with two other outgoing classmates, and speak a LOT with them; SMILE, show a large namecard on your desk; use plenty of eye contact; show International “OPEN” body language; participate 348%; use PENS (not pencils); develop International manners (for example, cover your mouth when you cough/sneeze/yawn); and guess, if you don’t know the answer to any question.

Many videos will be enjoyed, in this class, of exotic and unique places in the world. Let’s have fun discussing those places...and at the same time learn smooth, friendly international communication, in English.

Some video and audio listening activities will be used, to stimulate international discussions. Of course, we hope also to discuss and discover global conversation topics, techniques and News stories. Please join us, to discuss the world!

Let’s savor the joy of Gospel Music! We’ll learn English meanings of Gospel lyrics, & improve English-listening ability & vocabulary, at the same time. Discussion of Gospel songs and Gospel videos will also be done. We may also examine some of the famous Gospel singers and groups, such as The Winans, Kirk Franklin, Mary Mary, and more. You’re welcome to join us! Many Gospel music-listening ’cloze’ listening activities will be savored; & the meanings of lyrics will be discussed/explained. Some English conversation will also be done, to put into practice the positive attitudes of Gospel. If time allows, we might also examine some famous Gospel performers/groups, such as The Mighty Clouds of Joy, Smokie Norful, and more.

【学習内容】

Students are invited to ACTIVELY participate (327% participation) in the class, by: bringing an outgoing (‘gaikoteki’), positive mood to each class; SMILING; sitting beside two other students; using ‘Western’ Body Language; talking a lot with MANY other students, every class; showing ‘Western’-style manners (e.g. covering your mouth when coughing/sneezing/yawning/etc.); answering questions and explaining a LOT; using pens (not pencils); showing a large namecard on your desk; and GOING FOR IT! Listening-Comprehension improvement will be the focus of this course, and we will keep the mood active by mixing it with CONVERSATION and DISCUSSION parts, as well. We will listen for words and phrases, AND also learn the meaning of new vocabulary words, phrases, and English expressions. Please join us, to ‘Power up’ your listening abilities and English!

Many ‘cloze’ listening activities will be done (from English SONGS, videos, News reports, audiobooks, etc.). Your listening abilities will improve by listening; by repetition; and by quickly making many educated GUESSES. Conversational elements will be included, to ensure that your listening abilities are better synchronized with your speaking skills. Most important is trying...and not giving up! ‘Power it up!’

Your teacher would like to challenge you (inspire you) to ‘power up’ your listening abilities by using English songs, English News, English audiobooks, and English videos. Many ‘cloze’ exercise photocopies will be provided to students: blank spaces will be filled in by students. Both speaking and listening activities will be included, to ensure that listening & speaking both develop.

【学習内容】

Are you interested in British Culture? In this class we will learn all about the culture that brought forward cutting edge music, such as The Beatles and Radiohead. Students will be given the chance to learn about areas that most interest them, and listen to short lectures and share information in a task-based learning environment. Each week we will learn about one section of the culture of Britain, building up a complete picture by the end of the course.

The teacher will give a short lecture at the start of class and then students will discuss ideas in groups. Sometimes, students will be expected to do a little bit of deeper research outside the class into areas that interest them, and discuss these as part of the class.

The class will take the form of a listening lecture and then a communicative or content driven approach. The main focus is listening and discussion.

【学習内容】

Speaking in public is many people’s biggest fear. Worse than spiders! Speaking in public in English must be even more terrifying, but together we will learn how to make the most of our presentation skills. We will look at everything from the basics of body language to the technicalities of PowerPoint. Together we can build our confidence and prepare to speak publicly at conferences and business presentations without fear. Public speaking is a great skill and will give you confidence in speaking English. This course is for people who have already got an intermediate or reasonable understanding of basic grammar and vocabulary, but may not have yet gained full confidence in their speaking ability. In the course we will all prepare, practise and give individual presentations in front of the class which will help us gain confidence in speaking publicly in English.

In the class you will watch, create and give presentations about a number of topics. These topics could be related to what you do in the real world. We will provide feedback and strategies for creating effective presentations and speaking in public confidently. We will also learn about PowerPoint and how to manage our body language, structure presentations and even how to deal with questions and problems when presenting.

【学習形態】

The teacher will present various strategies, encourage discussion in pairs and groups and provide worksheets. Students will make their own presentations which they will give near the end of the course to the whole class.
