Health is no longer defined as merely the absence of disease, but rather as a positive state of wellness, which may have various degrees.
So, too, today mental health is more and more being considered in a positive manner with decreasing emphasis on negative agents such as resistance to or proneness to mental diseases.
Through much research psychologists have clarified many factors of positive mental health, especially that are now being called “character strengths”. In this series of “character strength leaflets”, we introduce descriptions of those positive mental health factors.

『Curiosity - To make your life more interesting』
Curiosity is sometimes considered as a negative feature, such as “childish” or “ignorant”. However, the mental mechanism of curiosity works as one of the engines to activate your mind to challenge something new, encounter something unknown, and be more interested in yourself and your own growth. This leaflet has a lot of suggestions about how to utilize and develop your curiosity!!
