Central Library      Law School Library     Shakujii Campus Library

Central Library

The Sophia University Central Library, which opened in 1984, holds approximately 1,100,000 books and 11,000 titles of periodicals on the two basement floors and the eight upper floors. The library has adopted an open stack system so that users can have direct access to the materials. It's floor space is 18,000 square meters and it has approximately 1,900 seats.

The central library accommodates various research institutes on the 4th to 8th floors so that it functions as a center of research activities.

Sophia University students, faculty, staff , graduates and those permitted by the University Librarian are eligible to use the Sophia library. Please show your ID card at the entrance. Graduates are expected to identify themselves at the reference desk first.

Monday - Friday 8:00 a.m.- 9:00 p.m.
Saturday 9:00 a.m.- 8:00 p.m.
Sunday 9:00 a.m.- 5:00 p.m.

Law School Library

Law School Library, which was established in 2004, holds approximately 21,000 books.

Saturday 9:00 a.m.- 8:00 p.m.
Sunday 9:00 a.m.- 8:00 p.m.

Shakujii Campus Library

The Shakujii Campus Library Collection consists of primarily of books on Catholic theology. It also includes books on religion, thought, and philosophy. Its holdings are about 120,000 volumes. Foreign periodicals total 500 titles, and Japanese periodicals 180 titles.
