From January 21 to 26, 4 graduate students majoring in International Nursing and 1 faculty member from Fu Jen University visited Sophia University to take part in International Nursing Health Study Program. The purpose of this study group was to share the understanding of the current situation of healthcare through an exchange among nursing professionals in the same Asian cultural area. By understanding diverse cultural background and future topics on nursing, and also by sharing the understanding of the current healthcare situation in different countries, the study group aimed at realizing high quality health care as a specialized profession.
This study program was sponsored by the Department of Nursing, Faculty of Human Sciences and International Liaison Office.
During this 5 day study session, the group attended courses in Master’s Program in Nursing at Sophia University. They also visited Seibo Hospital, Seibo Nursing Home (social welfare service corporation) National Center for Global Health and Medicine, Akenoboshi Clinic for Internal Medicine to study what is actually taking place in medical settings and talked with doctors and nurses about medical care in Japan. Graduate students from Fu Jen University presented their papers on the topic of healthcare in Taiwan. An exchange party was held with our graduate students to close the Program.
Professor Sumiko Hatsuko, Chairperson of the Department of Nursing, gave the comments as follows: “In a joint lecture with graduate students from Fu Jen University, four of our graduate students presented their respective research plans and carried out an exchange of opinions. Through this Program we could find and share a common area of interests among nursing professionals in Taiwan and Japan. And I am very pleased that their presentations in English and the exchange party gave our students confidence in being part of international exchange.”
