Campus Limpertsberg at University of Luxembourg
Grand Duchy of Luxembourg is one of the world’s most developed internationalized countries where much of the population speaks multi languages. The country places special emphasis on an advanced trilingual education. Being located in the heartland of Europe, Luxembourg prides in their efficient transport network that connects them to neighboring countries.
Opening of the office in Luxembourg has at last brought the academic exchange with the heart of Europe within our reach. Luxembourg will provide us with the most desired setting for academic exchange not only with the people of Luxembourg but with the surrounding countries as well. It means that we will have the chance to meet and talk with many young people and thereby, provide the inspiration for what Sophia University can offer them in Japan. At the same time, we look forward to strengthening our tie with whom we have already enjoyed a successful affiliation.
Official name: Sophia University Luxembourg Office
Location: Campus Limpertsberg, 162a avenue de la Faïencerie, L-1511 Luxembourg
Background:
Sophia University is one of the selected member universities of Global 30, "Project for Establishing University Network for Internationalization" implemented by the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sport, Science and Technology.
For many decades, our Faculty of Liberal Arts has continued to stimulate new ideas and innovative approaches to realize a curriculum in which students can attain the bachelor or graduate degrees by completing the required courses solely in English. We have also charted a new path for creating an environment that makes it easy for overseas students to study in Japan. The opening of Sophia University Luxembourg Office was, therefore, an important part of our responsibilities that we had to live up to as a member of Global 30.
Moreover, Sophia University conferred the Honorary Doctorate upon the current Prime Minister of Luxembourg H.E. Mr. Jean-Claude Juncker. In September 2012 students from Luxembourg are actually enrolled in our university and the same is true for Japanese students in Luxembourg.
Sophia University has kept in close contact with University of Luxembourg for many years and with the opening of our new office in Luxembourg our relationships will begin to operate in a new context.
