President Takizawa handing Grand-croix d’ Honneur des Amis de l’Université Sophia to President Yayi Boni
On March 2 Sophia University conferred Grand-croix d’ Honneur des Amis de l’ Université Sophia upon the President of the Republic of Benin, Dr. Thomas Yayi Boni.
President Boni plays a crucial role in taking the lead in developing his country, but as President of the West African Development Bank (BOAD) he has also launched his efforts to provide full support for the economic development in the entire region of West Africa.
The President has been making a positive contribution to democratic purpose and peace not only in his country but throughout Africa. He is also paving the way toward the plans to help initiate social and economic development in Africa.
Sophia University has recognized the President’s outstanding achievements with Grand-croix d’ Honneur des Amis.
Sophia University is currently promoting a stronger bond of academic-research exchange with African nations. Particularly, Benin is one of our closest friends among the African nations owing much to Rufin Zomahoun, the Beninese Ambassador to Japan since 2011 who is an alumnus of this University. Arrangements are well underway to enter into an agreement with Benin regarding admittance of Beninese students to Sophia University.
President Boni’s acceptance of the Grand-croix d’ Honneur des Amis will help Benin and Sophia University come into closer contact for mutual cooperation.
