Sophia School Corporation won a competitive tender for property and facilities of Soshigaya International House in Tokyo, currently owned by Japan Student Services Organization (JASSO).
Sophia is now planning to utilize the facilities, starting in April 2012, as a co-ed dorm for foreign students and Japanese students. There are mainly two aims of this acquisition: one is to improve the living environment for foreign students as one of 13 selected universities for internalization by Japanese government (Global 30 project) and the other is to enhance the support given overall students under current difficult economic situation.
The new student dorm is intended to serve as “International House”, which aims to encourage personal growth through daily life in multi-cultural and multi-lingual environment. With the new facilities, Sophia willl continue to turn out bright young graduates with international sense.
