Dear New Students and (the guarantors ) Parents of the New Students,
Important Notice: Cancellation of the Spring Entrance Ceremony
Sophia University faculties and staff extend our sincere heartfelt sympathies to the people suffering from the Tohoku-Pacific Coast Earthquake (Tohoku district- Off the Pacific Ocean Earthquake). We also express our deepest condolences for the people who lost their lives and their families in this disaster.
The university has taken into consideration the devastation in the disaster-struck areas and the social unrest after the earthquakes such as the shortage of the electricity and the disruption of the transportation systems, and regret to inform you that we have decided to cancel the Spring Entrance Ceremony for Undergraduate students (at Tokyo International Forum) and for Graduate students (at Auditorium in Yotsuya Campus, Bldg. No.10), formerly scheduled on Monday, 4th April, as well as the mass for new students. We apologize for the last-minute cancellations and the great inconveniences caused, and ask for the understanding and cooperation of the new students and their families.
In addition, the events for new students scheduled from Friday, April 1 such as the departmental meetings and the English language placement test will be postponed until Monday, April 4. All events related to the freshman orientation will start from Monday, April 4, and the details will be announced through our university website.
Those who have been suffering from the earthquake and consequently may not be able to attend the events scheduled for the New Students Orientations that will start from April 4 are kindly requested to contact the offices below.
