The Center for Language Education and Research held a faculty development workshop “Developing Academic Communication Skills～A practical approach for teachers when designing content-based programmes” on March 28th and 29th.
This workshop was held mainly for faculties who are teaching English in the Center for the Teaching of Foreign Languages in General Education.
It was aimed for the preparation of the general studies English subject “Academic Communication” to be offered next academic year which incorporated English education method called CLIL (Content and Language Integrated Learning) that aimed to have students learn both language and content at the same time.
60 faculties joined and had an active discussion on subjects such as“cross-cultural understanding” and “critical thinking”.
There will be similar programs offered in October and March this academic year.
We will coordinate with other development programs for the advancement of FD.
