On March 7, the Foreign Policy Committee of the Danish Parliament along with the Danish Ambassador to Japan and several Embassy officials visited Sophia University. Their visit was to attend a seminar on the topic of Japanese politics given by Professor Koichi Nakano in the Department of Liberal Arts.
The purpose of their visit to Japan was to deepen their understanding of international situation in East Asian region and with this goal in view they met with some members of the Diet and politicians to carry out an exchange of ideas or opinions on this issue.

Professor Nakano has been a long time friend of the Danish Embassy in Japan and it was for this reason that the seminar was held by Professor Nakano at the request of the Embassy.
He explained the current and perspective look at an internal situation in Japan which forms a basis for our international relations. He talked about the return of LDP as Japan’s ruling party and the political issues that lie ahead for the Abe Government, including his prediction about the upcoming election for the members of House of Councilors this summer. His lecture put a special emphasis on Japan’s relations with China, South Korea, and US.
The committee members listened attentively to Professor Nakano’s lecture asking questions and the seminar proceeded in a lively atmosphere of give-and-take of opinion.
