
Professor Shinji Shimizu in the Department of Engineering and Applied Sciences has been awarded Codes and Standards Center Award for Distinguished Contribution by the Japan Society of Mechanical Engineers. Professor Shimizu has played a leading role in drafting and enacting Japanese Industrial Standards (JIS) as well as in international standardization in the machine tools and tooling related areas. His long-standing contributions to the mechanical engineering are manifold.
