Associate Professor Toshihiro Nakaoka has been awarded the Commendation for Science and Technology by Minister of MEXT in the category of Young Scientists' Prize

Associate Professor Toshihiro Nakaoka of the Department of Engineering and Applied Science has been awarded the Commendation for Science and Technology by the Minister of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology, in the category of Young Scientists' Prize.

Associate Professor Toshihiro Nakaoka has been recognized by the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology (MEXT) with its award that honors researchers younger than 40 for their outstanding achievement in research. His research endeavors in "Elucidating and controlling optoelectronic properties of self-assembled quantum dots" won him the 2012 Young Scientists' Award.

Selection of the Award is based on the originality and the groundbreaking research discoveries that have contributed to the understanding and development of science and technology. By honoring young researchers with an award, MEXT hopes to help them sustain their motivation in their research projects, which in turn will help generate the scientific and technological advancement in Japan.
