President Tadashi Takizawa and President Park Chul of HUFS
On January 24, President Park Chul of Hankuk University of Foreign Studies (HUFS) and his party visited President Tadashi Takizawa of Sophia University. The purpose of his visit was to revise the terms of exchange agreement so that both universities could further strengthen their student and academic exchange.
Professor Park is a Spanish Language specialist and he has an experience of undergoing research at Sophia University in 1983. He left his message in the visitors’ book in Spanish.
HUFS is a private university situated in Seoul and established in 1954. The University has a variety of courses for 45 foreign languages as well as the departments for humanities, social sciences, and natural sciences. All the departments and courses are well known for their first class comprehensive education.
In view of increased global awareness, the University teaches one-third of its classes in English and accepts many overseas students.
In 2012 President Obama gave a lecture at HUFS. This was the first time any of the incumbent US Presidents have ever given a lecture in South Korea. In commemorating President Obama’s re-election for his second term, the auditorium where he previously gave a lecture was named Obama Hall. It has now become a place of interest.
President Park looks forward to building a stronger relationship with Sophia University and stated, “We very much welcome exchange students from Sophia University. Please come and study at HUFS.”
