Nursing commitment ceremony

Sophomores of the Nursing Department, Faculty of Human Sciences, participated in a “nursing commitment ceremony” in which each student received blessings from a priest at St. Ignatius Church.

Nursing Department head Etsuko Nishiyama addressed the students. Father Tsutomu Sakuma and Father Sali Augustine, both Sophia faculty members, prayed for each student. Senior students in the Nursing Department lit candles from which the flames were passed on to all sophomore students. Minori Ikeda, a sophomore, expressed their determination to study harder to become professional nurses.
